Celtics captain Paul Pierce says defense is to blame for the Celtics' loss to the Mavericks Monday night at TD Garden. Why can't it be seen as a tribute to what was once (and always will be) a fantastic rock band by what is a fantastic rock band? A recognition of past brilliance. An ode. An homage.
